13 February 2025

On 27 March, the Lung Cancer Policy Network will host a panel discussion and networking event to coincide with the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025.

Our expert panel, representing regional and national screening initiatives, will share their insights on how we can successfully embed screening into lung cancer care pathways. Attendees will then have the opportunity to network with one another, sharing ideas and collaborating on next steps to build on current screening activity in Europe.

During the event, you will hear from the following experts in a panel discussion:

  • Dr Torsten Gerriet Blum, the Strengthening the screening of Lung Cancer in Europe (SOLACE) project
  • Professor Marie-Pierre Revel, SOLACE
  • Merel Hennink, Global Lung Cancer Coalition
  • Penilla Gunther, Member of the EU Cancer Mission Board.

The benefits of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening for lung cancer are well established, with screening programmes at various stages of implementation across Europe.

As implementation gains pace, it is essential that these programmes are optimised. A core step will be to ensure Europe’s health systems are ready to embed screening in their operations to provide seamless, timely referral and onward care for all people diagnosed with lung cancer.
