Dear Network members,
I hope this finds you well. As the summer draws to a close in the Northern Hemisphere, we are looking ahead to a busy few months of activities as a Network, which we are pleased to update you on.
New policy engagement resources available
We are delighted to launch further resources to support the lung cancer community in their policy engagement activities. These resources have been developed on request from members, to share our key messages and recommendations in an advocacy-ready format. The resources available are:
- Frequently asked questions from policymakers on lung cancer
- Fully cited figures from our key reports
- Concise, advocacy-ready summaries of our three key reports are available on the member hub, to be launched externally later this week.
- Evergreen communications materials, featuring key messages about the Network and our key outputs.
Activities at WCLC
We look forward to seeing members at our member meeting, and open event, at WCLC 2024.
- If you would like to speak about the Network in any presentations, you can access our ‘core slides’ here which you are welcome to include in any presentations. Please contact us if you would like information on an aspect of our work not covered in the slides.
- We are curating member activity at WCLC for our website and members; please respond to this email if you would like us to include your activities! You can read our view of activities here: https://www.lungcancerpolicynetwork.com/lung-cancer-policy-network-activities-at-the-world-conference-on-lung-cancer/
- Please respond to this email if you would like to set up a 1-2-1 meeting at WCLC.
Upcoming Network newsletter
We are currently developing our Q3 newsletter for distribution in early September.
- Please respond to this email with details of any items you would like to be included in the newsletter, including relevent web links (e.g. recent or upcoming events, recent publications, news)
Interim update on IPN policy report
Research into our upcoming report focused on optimising management of IPNs as part of earlier detection strategies has continued over the summer. We are currently conducting interviews with members and additional experts. We anticipate sharing the first draft of the report for full Network review in September and very much look forward to your feedback at this time.
- If you would like to contirbute to the report through an interview or could recommend a colleague, please respond to this email. We would also be pleased to conduct this in-person at WCLC, if preferable.
- We will shortly distribute a ‘save the date’ for a feedback workshop for members, to take place w/c 30 September. This will be an opportunity to elucidate and refine the recommendations in the report, following the member feedback period through September. We do hope members will be able to join.
Development of 2025 Network strategy
The Secretariat is currently initiating the process of developing our 2025 strategy. As in previous years, we are designing this as a collaborative process with members and the Steering Committee. We look forward to working with you on this important aspect of our work, to continue to enhance the impact the Network is having on making lung cancer a global policy priority.
- Our in-person meeting at WCLC 2024, and the Q3 meetings, will be key opportunities to feed into the 2025 strategy.
- If you would like to set up a 1-2-1 meeting to discuss, please feel welcome to respond to this email.
