Professor Veronesi specialises in the surgical treatment of chest oncological pathologies. Since 2007, her research and clinical activity has focused on minimally invasive robotic approaches for the treatment of initial or locally advanced lung cancer. Professor Veronesi is a member of the committee on robotic cardio-thoracic surgery of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) and is a founding member of the Clinical Robotic Surgery Association (CRSA). She is active member of other international societies, such as the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and the European Society for Medical Oncology.

Professor Veronesi has led one of the largest European lung cancer screening programmes (COSMOS studies) and was principal investigator of several lung cancer chemotherapy prevention trials. She has helped develop a robotic surgery programme for thoracic diseases and has performed more than 250 robotic surgical procedures.

Professor Veronesi has authored more than 150 papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
