Professor Garrido is head of the Thoracic Tumours Section in the Medical Oncology Department at the University Hospital Ramón y Cajal in Madrid and is co-director of the Cancer and Chronic Disease Research Group at Instituto Ramón y Cajal de Investigación Sanitaria (IRYCIS). Professor Garrido’s main areas of research and clinical interest are thoracic tumours, immunotherapy and new anti-cancer agents in lung cancer. Professor Garrido is also actively involved in a number of phase I–III lung cancer clinical trials and is a member of CIBERONC, a Spanish Ministry of Health’s network of clinical and translational research, where she is helping to build a translational programme in collaboration with other clinical and experimental biology Spanish cancer groups.
Professor Garrido is a member of the Spanish National Cancer Strategy Committee and is the former President of the Minister of Health Advisory Council and the Medical Oncology Specialty Training Committee. She is a member of the ESMO Council and is Chair of the ESMO Women for Oncology Committee.
