To mark Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the Lung Cancer Policy Network is hosting a webinar with a global panel of experts on 13 November to discuss early-detection strategies for lung cancer.

The event builds on the Network’s report, Increasing the earlier detection of lung cancer: a toolbox for change, released in November 2023.  The experts speaking during the webinar will be sharing their unique insights into implementing screening strategies across different health systems and national contexts, as well as how they overcame the challenges encountered along the way.

Speakers are:

  • John Field – Professor of Molecular Oncology (Clinical), University of Liverpool, UK
  • Lauren Pretorius – Chief Executive Officer, Campaigning for Cancer, South Africa
  • Luis Raez – Chief Scientific Officer & Medical Director, Memorial Cancer Institute, US
  • Lucía Viola – Pulmonologist (Internal Medicine), Fundación Neumológica Colombiana; Institutional Pulmonologist, Research and Treatment Cancer Center, Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, Colombia
  • Tiffany Gowen – Director, Commission on Patient- and Family-Centered Care, American College of Radiology, US
  • Pan-Chyr Yang – Professor of Internal Medicine, National Taiwan University, Tawain
  • Mattias Johansson – Molecular Epidemiologist, International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO)

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the panellists questions during a live Q&A session.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, often because cases are diagnosed at a late stage, and detecting lung cancer earlier offers a crucial opportunity to significantly improve survival rates. This webinar will provide an important platform to consider and discuss the next steps in implementing comprehensive strategies for detecting lung cancer earlier.

We hope you can join us for this insightful discussion.
